Eye Camps

For decades, the organizers behind Nila-Shuktara Foundation (NSF) have been dedicated to restoring vision and improving lives through the annual Mobile Eye Camp, a tradition that began in the early 1980s. Each year, this impactful event serves hundreds of patients, free of charge.

The Mobile Eye Camp has been made possible through the generosity of the expatriate Bangladeshi community in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and across the United States. Inspired by the need for sustainable, year-round support for communities in Alamdanga and surrounding areas, NSF was established.

Our eye camps have touched lives in towns like Alamdanga, Sirajganj, and Narail. Through these events, we’ve:

  • Restored vision for over 500 individuals suffering from cataracts,

  • Provided free prescription glasses to over 1,500 people,

  • Tested the blood pressure and provided eye diagnostics to more than 3,000 individuals.

Nila-Shuktara Eye Hospital

Inspired by the need for sustainable, year-round support for communities in Alamdanga and surrounding areas, NSF took on the vision of establishing the first eye hospital in Bangladesh west of the Jamuna River, situated on a 20-acre property.

This state-of-the-art facility is designed to serve 100,000 patients annually, providing accessible, high-quality eye care through a range of vital services, including:

  • Cataract Surgeries – Restoring vision and transforming lives.

  • Optometry Services – Comprehensive eye exams and care.

  • Prescription Glasses – Helping patients see clearly.

  • Diagnostic Center – Advanced tools for accurate assessments.
